A Desire To Be Loved

Man has several basic needs. The need of food, water, and shelter are the most commonly recgonized. However, there is another basic need, that many overlook. It is the need to be loved. A person tries so hard to be loved, it can only be concluded that all human have a basic, instinctive desire to be loved.

We all know that when one of the original three basic needs are not met (food, water, shelter) that a human experiences suffering. I submit to you, that the same is for love. Love is a basic need, that if unfufilled can also cause great suffering. In fact, if the need of love is not met, a human will become so desperate to meet it, that all it's efforts are focused on obtaining it. If the need is neglected, or is not met, then a person will experience suffering, even unto the point of death.

One of the things that makes the need of love so difficult is how it must be satisfied. All the other basic needs can be met by the individual itself. However, the need of love must be satisfied by outside sources. Family is able to meet the majority of the need. If family does not, friends can make up the difference.

Therefore, I submit to the scientific community, that there are actually four basic needs: Food, Water, Shelter, and Love. For a human to survive, all four must be met....

Sing Once Again With Me

So this is what it feels like to be 19. Strange, doesn't feel any different from 18 or 17.

My actual birthday was on Thursday. Seeing as I was still in school at the time, my family had to bring any sort of celebration to me. My mother, grandmother, and aunt came up that afternoon to take me out to lunch. Of course, I chose a big restaurant and stuffed myself. Not smart seeing as I had a concert to play at that night. After orchestra rehearsal, the same group went to McAlister's Deli to eat. Needless to say, we ate light this time.

Then we had the concert. I played quite well if I do say so myself. The entire orchestra played well. We received a standing ovation! Of course, after the concert I got complements from the concert-goers. Then my family said goodbye, and headed back home. I was left to spend the few remaining hours of my birthday to myself.

One thing I did enjoy though was all the wonderful birthday messages that I would find throughout the day on my computer. I got well-wishes from people stretching across the entire state of North Carolina. That made me feel quite loved...

So now, what's happening. I'm back home. Good old Burke County. I have no specific plans, no specific things I must accomplish. There are a few things I would like to see happen though. I would like to attend two after-school rehearsals this week. One marching, and one concert setting. I would like to meet up with some of my high school friends. I would like to see those special people in my life. I would like to for one week, forget about Boone, NC and get back to the people and times that made me so happy.

So there's what has happened, and there's what I would like to happen. If you think you can help with all this, feel free to let me know. I can't wait to see everyone!

So, it's time to Sing Once Again With Me....just like we did in high school.

"Another year. Another chance to laugh, cry, smile, or frown. Another chance to love, romance, sweep someone off her feet. Another chance to make mistakes, fall, get up, and keep going. Another year...I can't wait!"
