Storms In The Night

As I am sitting here writing, Boone is experience one of nature's marvelous displays. We're actually getting a thunderstorm. There is rain, lightning, wind, and of course thunder. Some people are afraid of the storm, while others are enjoying the occurrence.

The entire day has been like this, somewhat cold and rainy. The sky has been gray and bleak. Fog and mist drifted along the ground all day long. It was just plain nasty. Soon, night fell, and the storm began. It started out small, and then got more intense.

I realized, somewhere in the wind whistling and the thunder crashing, that this is just like life. Sometimes, it just turns rainy. All we can see is what's right on top of us. There are even times when it storming, and we grow afraid and uncertain. If we could only see what lies ahead.

Soon, the gray skies will clear, and turn back to that beautiful blue. That storm in your life will pass, and the night will turn to day again. Keep the faith....

May God keep you this and every night.

A Hymn A Day

Waking up at 7:00 this morning, I didn't quite know how today would turn out. It didn't feel good, but it didn't feel all that bad either. However, by the end of my first class, I could tell that this was going to be a great day.

My first class is Aural Skills (ear training) II at 8:00...in the morning. We do different things, like listening to music, and even some singing. My professor Dr. Joby Bell, who's my cousin by the way, handed out a slip of paper. On it was a hymn. Were we really going to sing a hymn?

Yes. We were, and we did. At first, we all sung the melody, but soon we added all the parts. It sounded like a regular choir. The last thing we did, was switch from singing just the numbers of the pitches, to the actual words. Everyone in that room could immediately feel a difference. We all walked away that morning uplifted.

Sure enough, my day turned out to be great! All my classes were good, and went by fast. I got to see and talk to my lovely several times today. I've just felt good all day long, and I strongly believe it had something to do with singing that hymn this morning.

I go to sleep tonight with a renewed sense of hope, and an increased faith. I know it's not possible for everyone to start the day with a hymn, but it sure helped me.

May God keep you this and every night.

Here's To The Lonely

Today was a normal day. The only thing I had to do today was attend a Teaching Fellows meeting. Attending the meeting were the 259 other teaching fellows. I was surrounded by friends, people I know care about me. The girl of my dreams was only 3 feet away from me... yet I still felt lonely.

Now when someone tells me they feel lonely, the first thing that comes to mind is "Do they know Jesus?". That is the most common cause of loneliness. But since I do, then I must go to the second most common...I'm missing my soulmate.

I am a firm believer that there is someone for everyone. Somewhere out there is my soulmate. Somewhere out there is your soulmate. So here's to the lonely. Never give up on love, it didn't give up on you. Keep your chin up and your spirits high. It's hard, I know it is, but we can make it. Happiness is out there, and soon it's going to find us.

Now it's time to sign off for the night. Classes start tomorrow. So as always....

May God keep you this and every night.
