A Strange Sense of Fun

It's Halloween!

Of course, you already know this, for you've seen the countless costumes and cheap and cheezy decorations in stores. You've also seen the 9 ft. tall candy isles in Wal-Mart and other stores that leave dentists smiling wide at the potential. But tonight..I took part in a different kind of Halloween fun. I worked a haunted trail.

Working this trail, I came across a strange sensation. I like assisting in scaring people. I like hearing them scream. I can't really explain it, and I don't think it's harmful. I'm pretty sure I'm not psycho. I just like giving people a thrill. Perhaps it's that I'm acting again, or that I'm immersed in a world that has a totally different set of problems from the one I spend so much of my time in.

In the fantasy world, the problems aren't hidden social status issues. Race nor class does not enter the equation. Religion and politics do not matter. In this world, there is one goal uniting everyone: Survive. In this world good fights evil, or at least tries to keep others from it. Simple, uncomplicated, easy.

Sometimes I wish our modern world was like that. That the good guys always wore white, and the bad guys were very clearly monsters out to get you, and in the end the good guys always win.

Oh well, if life were like a movie, then we all would truly be actors and no one would be able to pay the ticket price to see it...

May God keep you this and every night...even the spooky ones....
