Think On These Things
"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."
~Philippians 4:8
It's amazing how unpredictable, and quite frankly unstable, life can be. One minute you're on top of the world, and the next you feel like everything is going wrong. When troubles come our way, it is our human nature to focus on the negative issues in an effort to fix them. When this happens we lose the positives in our lives....
That is why we are told to think on the positive. Things that are true and honest. Think on the things that are just, pure, and lovely. Find the things of good report and virtue, and find the praise. We are instructed to think on these things, because they will help us remember the positives when things seem to be going wrong.
I was feeling pretty low this afternoon. I had lost sight of the positives. I went to a movie with some of my friends, and it cheered me up a little. However, when I got back to my room, I read that verse. So I tried it, and it works. I began thinking on all the positive things I've got going for me, and now I'm feeling fine.
I go to bed tonight in a fairly decent mood. There's snow on the way, and I don't have any homework for the weekend.
If you're not feeling so well, find your positives. I know it seems like they're not there, but if you go looking for them, you're guaranteed to find them somewhere.
As always, may God keep you this and every night.
"Grief and tragedy and hatred are only for a time. Goodness, remembrance and love have no end."
