And Thus It Begins...Again...

Today, was the first day, of the rest of your life. It also happened to be the first day of the 2007-2008 school year at Appalachian State University. After a turbulent, yet productive and fun week at band camp, today was a rather nice start into the academic side of the college coin.

The day started out like most tend to do. The sun rose and I awoke to a beautiful mountain morning outside my window. After warming up in the shower, I ate a hearty bowl of nutritious cereal, brushed my teeth..I think...and ran out the door, determined to not be late for my first class of the year.

A great way to start the day lies in a 9 AM conducting class, of that I am certain. Especially when it is with Dr. Scott C. Tobias. I have this man for four different classes this semester. I certainly hope he doesn't get sick of seeing me.

The rest of the day seemed to fly by. Moving quickly through Alexander Technique, Marching Band, Marching Band Techniques, and finally orchestra rehearsal, I settled in for a nice dinner at McAlisters. Overall, a well-rounded day.

The only way to finish a day like today, is to watch Who's Line, and then go to bed.

I cannot say the day was without it's difficulties, but one need not focus on them. Challenges and problems are a part of life, they are what shape our character, arouse our passions, further our resolve, and solidify our beliefs in who we are. It is all in how one deals with these challenges, that determines what kind of person they are, and what kind of outcome will be achieved. Let us go through life, taking on these challenges. Let us not use them merely as stepping stones, but as chances to learn and grow. I know I certainly grew some today. Did you?

"The problem is not that there are problems. The problem is expecting otherwise and thinking that having problems is a problem."
~Theodore Rubin

"We shall draw from the heart of suffering itself the means of inspiration and survival." ~Winston Churchill
