A Time to Be Thankful
It has begun. It has actually been going for awhile now. I'm just now getting around to talking about it.
I'm of course talking about the holiday season. Starting after Halloween, everything seems to be aiming toward Thanksgiving and the Christmas season. Of course, the first major one coming up, is Thanksgiving.
Now, many scholars have their debates on the first Thanksgiving and what really went on, however, obviously there is more meaning to it behind just stuffing ourselves silly. To honor the holiday we must look at its name. Thanksgiving, or as I think of it, Giving Thanks.
On this day especially we take time to spend with our families and give thanks for many different things. A favorite activity is for everyone to go around and say something they're thankful for before they dig into the turkey. I personally find this torture as it keeps me from eating...
It wouldn't be a bad idea however, to make your own personal list of things your thankful for. Often times we don't realize how blessed we are until we stop and think about it. So this Thanksgiving, really, truly be thankful for something.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone, and try not to overeat too much...
May God keep you this and every night.
"Thanksgiving-day, I fear, If one the solemn truth must touch, Is celebrated, not so much To thank the Lord for blessing o'er, As for the sake of getting more!"
