The List
It was later in the evening, after my meetings and such. I was talking with a few of my female friends, when one of them spoke up and told me something rather interesting. Over the thanksgiving break, this friend of mine had told her mother that her and I would be getting married. Of course this was news to me, but yet, I took it as a very good compliment.
My inquisitive nature pushed me into asking: Why? Why me for a husband? The response I got was not a puny "I don't know, I just think you'd be a good one". Nor was it a, "Your name was the first I thought of". Nope, the response I got..was a list.
A list? A list! But not just any list. No, the points on this list came fast to her mind, as if previously thought of. I shall attempt to recount them:
- You'd be a faithful husband.
- You'd be an amazing dad.
- We'd have crazy talented kids.
- We have very similar religious beliefs.
- I'll be doing pretty well salary wise as a professor.
I must admit, even though not one comment was on my looks or directly on my personality, I was extremely flattered. I couldn't, and still can't, express enough appreciation for the amazing thought and kindness that I felt from that concept. I was and still am flattered. Even now, I'm smiling just thinking about it. It is the moments like those, that stay in your heart forever, coming to your mind just when you need that little pick me up.
So someday down the road, when I'm feeling a little down, my mind's going to buzz and tell me "I told my mom that you and I were going to get married. Why? (insert the list)". Then, I'll smile, and people will ask while I'm smiling...and it's something only I'll be able to understand..
May God keep you this and every night.

Hey buddy that is really good to have had a list about all the stuff that would make you a great husband. Take that and run because there are a few girls out there that will actually tell us this stuff believe me! I just hope some day I can be just as fortunate. Later!
