Another Day, Another Year

Today was pretty decent. Appalachian had a two hour delay, which meant my 8 and 9 AM classes were cancelled. Yes! I got to sleep in. That is always a plus. I was late to my 10 AM psychology class. It didn't matter because we didn't do anything. It was the biggest waste of my precious time today.

English was so so. I'm not really fond of that class. I write when I want to, what I want to, how I want to. I can't stand it when I'm forced to write. That's not how my creative process works.

The rest of the day went by easily. I got to do quite a bit of relaxing, and just enjoying the day. Earlier this evening, I went down to the lobby just to sit in front of the fireplace. It was nice and cozy, gently warming my face. The light danced off the walls casting shadows across the room. I sat there in an armchair just thinking back on the past years.

As I sat, I thought of my friends. How great it would be if they were there with me. I imagined the different people sitting with me around the fire. Some were sitting across from me on the couch. One was in the armchair across from me. A few were on the floor in front of the fire. Someone was cuddled up with me in my armchair. My cat was right there snuggled at my feet. I wish I could have stayed there forever. Maybe that's what heaven will be like for me. One big long chat in front of the fire....

I go to bed tonight to sleep an entire year. When I wake up tomorrow, I will be 19. I will have experienced 19 wonderful years on this Earth. The past 18 years have had its ups and downs, its good times and its bad times. Its defeats as well as its triumphs. I wouldn't trade it for anything though. It has made me who I am today, and it's what will shape my future.

Thank you to everyone who has touched my life these past 18 years. I look forward to all the days ahead.

May Good keep you this and everynight.

My name is Jeffrey Michael Lazenby. Many people call me Dr. Lazenby. Consider yourself lucky, the Doctor is in and planning on sticking around awhile.
